Welcome to Josselin, an important stop on the “Route des Ducs de Bretagne”

Founded in the 11th century by the Viscount of Porhoët, the town of Josselin grew around its castle overlooking the Nantes-Brest Canal. In the centre, many fine half-timbered houses surround the Basilica of Notre Dame du Roncier, a place of pilgrimage in Brittany. On the other side of the river, the beautifully restored historic area of Sainte-Croix offers a wonderful view of the “Petite Cité de Caractère” (literally “Little Town of Character”).

Many events are held here throughout the year: there is a large weekly local market every Saturday morning, an Amateur Theatre Festival, “Festiv'été” (an outdoor summer music festival), a Sacred Music Festival, not to mention the Mediaeval Festival every two years...
